SUMMARY OF EXPERIENCE AND BACKGROUND

 
Mr. Kellerhals has over 30 years of experience in business information technology planning, design, installation and management – working the past 20 years in the health care industry. His scope of experience includes the management of both large-scale custom systems development projects and large packaged software implementation programs. He has led IT planning efforts – both strategic and tactical. He was a software company CIO for over two years.  
 
He has planned and led the implementation of three core administration systems at 12 health plans resulting in the retirement of 15 legacy systems and the migration of over 2.6 million active members to the new systems (and an equal number of inactive members). 
 
He has also advised senior management at nine health plans during their core administration system implementations involving 15 legacy systems, five new systems and the migration of over 6.5M active members.  
 
Mr. Kellerhals succeeds because he helps his clients succeed.

  • Managed the IT operations for all internal customers, and external hosted customers – including data center operations, network management, applications support, help desk, and IT outsourcing services

  • Participated in negotiating and closing outsourcing contracts with over ten clients

  • Managed over 240 FTE in 17 locations supporting 50 applications for 134 hosted clients and TriZetto corporate IT needs

Project Highlights: 

Tactical I.T. Planning

  • Directed a project in which a two-year I.T. tactical plan was developed for a 750,000 member health plan. The plan addressed all technology, applications, development architecture and data management projects for this managed care organization.

 

  • Planned and managed the development of a five-year tactical information plan for a 1,300 bed, four-hospital health care system. The plan encompassed hardware, system software, application software, data/telecommunications, data center relocation and MIS reorganization. 

 

  • Led a “make or buy” administration systems analysis and planning project for a “Big Five” multispecialty practice clinic

 

Health Plan Systems Integration

  • Directed a $50 million systems consolidation, one of the largest efforts ever undertaken successfully in the managed care industry. The effort included six separate project teams, working in nine different states, with total project team participation peaking at over 300 people. The project goal was to consolidate administrative systems processing, supporting over 1.7 million members, from over fifteen separate source systems onto one target system. The migration process required two and a half years in elapsed time, and over 325 person years of I.T. and business personnel time. 

  • Led a project to replace the core admin systems for a 300K member health plan

 

Other Highlights

  • Led a project to replace the patient accounting system of a 550 bed, three hospital healthcare system

  • Led a project to design and build a new custom system to support the back office settlement processing of the Milan Stock Exchange

  • Led a project to replace the demand deposit accounting system of a $1.1 billion regional bank holding company
